Mundane Monday (One minute reflection)

Did you have another mundane Monday? Is there more than the mundane? If so what is it? We are all giving our lives away for something. Everyday, every minute, every hour, we give our lives away. What are you giving your life to? Is it just a job? Just trying to get through the day? Just retirement? Is there more than the normal, the routine, the mundane? I believe for believers in Jesus Christ there is. What will you give your life to tomorrow?

One Minute Reflection

A one minute reflection may only take one minute to read, but may take longer to reflect on.

This week while I was preparing to preach Luke 8:22-25 the authority of Jesus struck me. He tells the winds and the waves to stop and they obey. Then His disciples ask each other,  “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”

Have you ever reflected on how many things obey Jesus? The wind and the waves obey, disease obeys, even DEMONS obey Him. So what is the one thing that does not always obey Him? Us.

There is something special about the fact that He allows us to disobey. It means when we obey (ideally) it is because we love Him. Sure, sometimes it is fear and a mixture of bad motives, but because we have the freedom to disobey, it makes it far more beautiful when we obey.

John 14:15 “If you love me, you will obey what I command.
